About the book:
Joel is afraid of the future.
Since he was a child he's been haunted by dreams about the people he loves. Visions of what's going to happen - the good and the bad. And the only way to prevent them is to never let anyone close to him again.
Callie can't let go of the past.
Since her best friend died, Callie's been lost. She knows she needs to be more spontaneous and live a bigger life. She just doesn't know how to find a way back to the person who used to have those dreams.
Joel and Callie both need a reason to start living for today.
And though they're not looking for each other, from the moment they meet it feels like the start of something life-changing.
Until Joel has a vision of how it's going to end . . .

My thoughts:
The Sight of You is a beautiful story that will stay with you long after you turn the last page. It follows the story of Joel and Callie, whose paths cross one fateful day and an undeniable bond begins to form.
Joel is haunted by dreams about people he loves and therefore he has become determined not to let anybody get close to him. But there's something about Callie that means he just can't stay away, it's like a magnetic force is drawing them together. As you watch the relationship between Joel and Callie unfold, Miller takes you on an emotional journey.
The narrative jumps each chapter from Joel's point of view to Callie's. I love that you get to read the story from both sides as it unfolds. Miller really allows the reader to get to know and understand the characters and you can't help but become invested in them. Once or twice I found myself having to check who's chapter it was as I'd be following some dialogue and would be unsure who it was speaking - but this is likely because I stayed up till the early hours reading while my eyes were trying to shut! I just didn't want to put it down.
Callie tells Joel that she sees his dreams as a gift, that he could use them to try and prevent bad things happening. Joel struggles to see it this way, which after getting to the end of the book I have to say that I'm with Joel! As the reader, you know what vision Joel would do anything to change. The entire way through the book I found myself willing for him to find a way to stop it. As it draws closer to the fateful, Miller jumps across time a lot faster, which creates a tense and anxious pace to the story.
The moment you find out how the story ends, I burst into tears. I was reading so fast and I literally froze and tears started to roll down my face. The last few pages I just couldn't stop them.
The Sight of You is beautiful and intimate and will break your heart, all the while filling it with love and hope.
Just. Wow.
