I cannot even begin to explain to you how excited I was when I got my hands on a copy of Hilary's new novel Plan Cee. It was as exciting as if someone put a table full of all the deliciously bad food that I love in front of me and told me I could eat it all and not put on a pound!! I know - right?!
About the book:
Would you abandon your present for a second chance at your past?
Cecelia Reynolds has spent most of her life trying to forget the commitment-phobic man who broke her heart. It wasn’t easy, but eventually she did it, or so she thought…
As Cecelia and her husband gather for a friend’s wedding, her perfect world is thrown into complete turmoil. Even though it’s been twenty years since she last laid eyes on Keith Emerson, all it takes is one glance for her to feel emotions she thought were long gone. When Keith ends up officiating the ceremony, she quickly realizes his message of love is directed at her, not the happy couple. But can she believe him?
We live our entire lives thinking we know ourselves. But do we ever really?
As secrets and lies cause Cecelia’s world to spin completely out of control, she is forced to seek advice from the most unlikely ally. In the process, she must confront the demons of her past and the events that shaped her into the woman she is now. Will she finally learn the real meaning of love, friendship, and family?
While this book is a sequel to Plan Bea, it also reads as a standalone.

I'm sure you all know already that I am an avid fan of Hilary's and I am so excited that I have been able to follow her on her journey from her debut memoir Dangled Carat, to the release her first fictional novel, Plan Bea and now the sequel, Plan Cee. From the moment I read the last page of Plan Bea I hoped, no, I knew, there had to be a sequel. Hilary left us with such an amazing hook that left me dying to know more. The thought of having to wait for Plan Cee to be released proved almost too much that I wanted explode! But finally that day came... Plan Cee had arrived!! Queue the (very rational) high-pitched squeal when I saw it in my inbox. I am almost certain the e-mail was even glowing!! Okay - maybe I have a slightly over-active imagination, but that is certainly what was going on in my head.
So before I get too carried away, I will tell you a bit about the book first and then I will let you know my thoughts on it. I can't wait to share them with you. Though I am sure you can already get a sense of my opinion ;)

My thoughts:
Well I can say for certain that, once again, Hilary has not disappointed and has created another little masterpiece. I love the way we follow the story through both Cecilia and Keith's perspectives. Hilary writing is very clear and easy to read, which really makes it easy to follow the story, even though you are jumping between the first person perspective of two different characters.
I already fell in love with the characters in Plan Bea, yes, even Bea! Hilary has develop really strong characters with lots of depth, so you really feel you can understand them. Each character has their own personality and traits which follow through both novels really well.
I love learning about the story between Cecilia and Keith. One thing that this story reminds us is that we should never pre-judge a person or situation. There is always more to a story that what may first meet the eye. Without giving too much away, we found out that Cecelia has misunderstood a situation from her past for many years and this has ended up affecting her dramatically throughout her life. If only Cecelia had known the truth earlier.
This story shows us how a few little lies can end up getting in between a number of relationships - friendships, husbands and wives, children. I felt heartbroken for Cecilia's husband Bryce, but at the same time Cecilia's story is written in a way where you sympathise with her situation. Nothing in life is ever black and white, and this story is a clear reminder of that.
This story doesn't end on quite the cliffhanger we ended Plan Bea with, but there is still a large curiosity to know what the future holds for the characters. I absolutely loved Plan Cee, just as I expected to. I can't wait to continue reading more about these wonderful characters Hilary has created.
Plan Cee is a beautiful story that captures both the destruction that can be caused from lies and secrets, but also the strength of love and friendship.
I would without a doubt give Plan Cee;
