About the book:

True Love Never Dies. The young and handsome Julian lives a charmed life in Los Angeles. That is, until his world is turned upside down by a love affair with Josephine, a mysterious young woman who takes him by storm. But she is not what she seems, carrying secrets that tear them apart—perhaps even forever.

And so begins Julian and Josephine’s extraordinary adventure of love, loss, and the mystical forces that bind people together across time and space. A journey that will propel Julian toward either love fulfilled…or oblivion.

My thoughts:

The Tiger Catcher is the first of Paullina Simons's books that I've read. The blurb for this book promised a great romance story. And it did deliver on a certain level.

It is an epic story of a man who is completely in love with a woman and will travel to the ends of the earth... or time ;) to be with her. Yes - time! This story is centred around time travel. So if you're not into the fantasy element this evokes then this book may not be for you.

The love between the main characters is a little unbelievable. Josephine is not a character that you warm to easily. She comes across as selfish and inconsiderate and it makes it difficult for the reader to truly believe that Julian would want to fight so hard to be with her. However, love isn't always perfect, and neither are people, so you must try to understand that Julian has his reasons for loving Josephine.

I loved the inclusion of time travel in the novel. I thought the mystical idea behind time travel and Joshphine's character being reborn in different periods was extremely well thought out and brilliantly written. Paullina's poetic writing is beautiful and incredibly evocative.

Although I found it difficult at times to fight for Josephine and Julian's love, I was intrigued by the developments through different times and I look forward to reading the next two novels in the series - due out this year! - to find out how their journey is going to continue.
