Review:

Another year… another awesome read from the talented Holly Martin!

Last year Holly set fire to the Twitter world as a craze began in awe of her first novel The Sentinel. I was part of this outbreak as I absolutely adored the characters and the storyline. I was left with an incredible book hangover when I finished the book and the thought of having to wait for the next instalment was horrifying!! What a tease ;)

And at last… here it is! Holly Martin has produced another electrifying read with the sequel, The Prophecies.

Before I started to read The Prophecies I was worried that it was going to take me some time to become familiar with the characters again, but I was pleasantly surprised. When I started to read it was like I was completely transported back into this world… like when you meet up with an old school friend you haven’t seen for years and it’s like you’ve were together yesterday! The characters still felt so familiar and fresh in my mind, which clearly goes to show what a brilliant job Holly did at developing her characters in the first book. And of course… the introduction of Zach! Definitely a character that has added a great dynamic to the story.

I really feel that Holly raised the bar when she wrote The Prophecies – all the emotion and tension from The Sentinel are still there, but it is taken to another level. All senses are heightened as tension increases through the plot, pressure builds for Eve and her ultimate destiny and the passion between the characters’ relationships start to soar. In The Prophecies we start to learn a lot more about Eve’s creators and see them play a much stronger role; even with some who are finding themselves questioning Eve and what they have done. With an incredible bounty on Eve’s head, even those who don’t believe in the prophecy about the world ending are out to get her and straight away it becomes clear that nowhere is safe. This keeps the tension at a high throughout the novel as you’re always waiting for the next element of danger to jump out and surprise you.

I don’t want to go much into the storyline as I truly think it is better for you to experience it for yourself and I don’t want to give anything away.

All I can say is that this book is brilliant – Holly Martin is some special kind of brilliance!

For me, just like The Sentinel, The Prophecies is an absolutely must-read for anyone who enjoys a fantasy/paranormal story. And I would urge you, that even if you don’t think the genre is for you, give this series a go. It was my first taste of paranormal fiction and I couldn’t get enough of it.

The Prophecies is another mesmerising read from the sensational Holly Martin.

There is absolutely no doubt that it gets 5 stars!! In the words of Oliver Twist “Can I have some more please?”
