Blurb:

If your boss was the hottest rock star on the planet, would you mix business with pleasure?

I'm Meg Stiles. This is my leaving party. And that song we're making a mockery of? That's written by one of the biggest rock stars in the world. And I'm moving in with him tomorrow.

Seriously! I am not evening joking.

Well, maybe I'm misleading you a little bit. You see, I haven't actually met him yet...

No, I'm not a stalker. I'm his new PA. His Personal Assistant. And I am off to La-La Land. Los Angeles. The City of Angels - whatever you want to call it - and I can't bloody believe it!

Celebrity PA to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg's glam new life in sun-drenched LA is a whirlwind of show biz parties and backstage passes. Cool, calm Christian, in town to write his famous friend's biography, helps keep Meg's feet firmly on the ground. But with Johnny's piercing eyes and a body Brad Pitt would kill for, how long will it be before she's swept right off them again?

Review:

I am always excited to try new authors and 'Johnny Be Good' was the first novel I had read by the lovely Paige Toon. With Paige's new short story ebook 'Johnny's Girl' having been released this month (7th November) I decided to go back to the roots of where it all began.

In 'Johnny Be Good' we see Meg embark on a wild and crazy journey as she becomes PA to Johnny Jefferson, sexy celebrity rock star. The narrative is very fast paced at times, and although some suggest it seems rushed, I believe it perfectly compliments the fast paced change in Meg's life. I instantly took a liking to Meg - the way she embraces the move to LA, down to her stubbornness as she tries to convince everyone, including herself, that she does not fancy Johnny. I love how Paige writes about the attraction between Johnny and Meg; you're there every step of the way and can feel it building from a silly crush to something deeper. Meg is a very strong character; thrown in at the deep end, she thrives in her job as PA. However, when it comes to her attraction to Johnny...she melts.

Johnny is a loveable character who brings fun and comedy to the story. He's got that bad boy 'I'm a rockstar I can do (and have!) whatever I want' kind of attitude, but also comes across very down to earth. The relationship that first builds between Johnny and Meg is so cute. It's fun and flirty as they tease each other and make each other laugh. It is most endearing when you see Johhny open up with Meg and allow himself to be vulnerable, although he unfortunately quickly snaps back. The sexual tension and physical attraction that builds between Meg and Johnny can really be felt by the reader, and I found myself, on many occasions, with my own heart in my chest or breath being taken away as they get closer to connecting - and I may have shouted "KISS HER" out loud a couple of times. Ahem.

When Meg accompanies Johnny on his tour she really comes into her own and I found myself feeling closer to Meg. Her commitment to Johnny as his PA - and friend - is unfaltering, as she retains the strength to support and stand by him through some horrific events. My heart really broke for Meg as Johnny spirals and she is the one who gets hurt. Johnny can be so frustrating and I definitely found myself wanting to shout at him to pull himself together! I completely connected with Meg's character - when she laughed, I laughed and when she cried, I cried with her.

Paige writes her characters beautifully. You really get to know, and understand, each one of them. From the loveable, mother-figure Rosa (we all need a Rosa in our lives!), to Kitty, fellow CPA (Celebrity Personal Assistant), who helps keep Meg a little more sane in this crazy world, to the totally sweet Christian, Johnny's best friend and author of his biography, and rival for Meg's heart. The relationship between Meg and Christian is so lovely. They are so similar, have their own inside jokes, and whenever Meg needs someone Christian is always there for her. Paige's portrayal of the two relationships is brilliant - you get a real sense of the feelings and emotions connected to each one. It's the ultimate battle between the comfortable, loving, easy relationship, and the troubled, drama-enfused, passionate one.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it. It's a roller coaster of emotions, with strong characters, and a sexual tension that will make your heart pound.

It's fun,sexy, and heart-breaking!
