About the book:

Hope Anderson is at a crossroads. At thirty-six, she’s been dating her boyfriend, an orthopaedic surgeon, for six years. With no wedding plans in sight, and her father recently diagnosed with ALS, she decides to use a week at her family’s cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to ready the house for sale and mull over some difficult decisions about her future. Tru Walls has never visited North Carolina but is summoned to Sunset Beach by a letter from a man claiming to be his father. A safari guide, born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tru hopes to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding his mother’s early life and recapture memories lost with her death. When the two strangers cross paths, their connection is as electric as it is unfathomable… but in the immersive days that follow, their feelings for each other will give way to choices that pit family duty and personal happiness against each other in devastating ways.

My thoughts:

Wow... where do I even begin. The 3rd September 2018 marked an incredibly special day for me - the day I received an email asking me if I'd like to take part in reviewing Nicholas Spark's new novel Every Breath as part of the UK blog tour. I mean... permission to squeal!?!? And is that even really a question? I couldn't even imagine a world where I might have said no thanks.

Nicholas Sparks, undoubtedly, has written some of the most beautiful and heart-wrenching love stories of all time. Every Breath is just another of his masterpieces.

The story follows the love story of Hope Anderson and Tru Walls - both from completely different worlds, but brought together in unusual circumstances. Nicholas Sparks has such a beautiful way of bringing his characters to life. I found myself relating so much to Hope; her character, her dreams.

I also felt a strong connection to Tru. Having been born and grown up in South Africa, I related so strongly to his love of the bush and the magic of wildlife in Africa. I fell in love with Tru as quickly as Hope did and with their love. The instant connection, not necessarily of electric sparks, but the ease which they felt in each other's company, the desire to know and understand one another.

As a reader, you feel as though you live every emotion along with them. Like you are really seeing what each of the characters are feeling inside, not just reading about it on a page.

There were a number of occasions in the book where I felt like my heart actually skipped a beat, or paused with anxiety with the worry of Tru and Hope being kept apart. And I'm not going to lie... there was a pivotal moment in the book - you'll know it when you read it - that I felt a tear running down my face and my throat all choked up. As always, Nicholas Spark's words moved me to tears.

As in every true love story, Every Breath is filled with passion, romance and devastating heartbreak. It's not a cliche love story, it's a true, honest account, where life and commitments get in the way. Through every chapter your heart is on tender hooks, hoping the true love will prevail.

Nicholas Sparks, remains one of the most profound authors of love stories.

I save these for only the really special ones, and I would give Every Breath,

If you've enjoyed the beautiful work of Every Breath yet I would love to hear what you thought of it in the comments below.
